The History of Black And Red Vase Painting

The Minoans

Octopus Vase, Crete, c. 1500 BC

Greek Vase Painting gives us a lot of information about the Greeks' beliefs and religion as well as about the details of their daily lives.

The Minoans, who lived on the small island of Crete, were the first to create these beautifully decorated forms of pottery. The made free-form pottery, and covered them with flowing pictures and designs.
