The first step in project prepartion is planning a project. Steps involved in planning include knowing furniture styles and function, how to read and create project plans, and also knowing different types of joinery.
The second step is to be able to select and identify appropriate materials, figure out how much stock is needed, and to create a bill of materials and an order of operations.
The third step in preparing to be a craftsman is knowing hand and power tool parts as well as knowing how to safely operate them.
