Before you begin:
Plan to read "Shades of Gray" daily. Notice the pieces that make up the plot of a story: Main character, Setting, Situation, Main Problem, the Bringer of the Problem, Steps to solving the problem, and finally, the Solution. In this story, the problem is a conflict within the main character. After deciding on the main problem, notice things that impress Will about his uncle, and notice things that impress his uncle about Will. You should be able to find three of each in the story. We will do several days' notes together, so be sure to attend. After you have read the whole story, you will be ready to write your final response. Include the pieces of the plot and the things Will and his uncle notice about each other. Decide how the problem gets solved. Include this in your final written response as well. The last paragraph of your final response wil be where you share how reading this story has impacted your life. |
